1.1 Classic Cabs Ltd ("Classic Cabs", "we", "us", "our") is a licensed private hire company operating under a Taxi Licence and a Limousine Licence issued by the Government of Jersey. We are the data controller responsible for your personal data.

2. Our Commitment

2.1 Classic Cabs is committed to protecting your privacy. We process personal data in accordance with the Data Protection (Jersey) Law 2018 and, where applicable, the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR).

2.2 This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

3. Data We Collect

3.1 When you book or enquire with us, we may collect:

  • Your name and mobile number
  • Pickup and destination addresses
  • Passenger count and luggage requirements
  • Flight number and arrival details (for airport transfers)
  • Booking date, time, and journey records
  • Payment method (but never card details — see Section 5)
  • Communications sent via WhatsApp or phone

3.2 When you use our website at classic-cabs.co, we may collect:

  • Addresses entered into the fare estimator (processed locally, not stored)
  • Anonymous usage data if analytics are enabled in future
  • classic-cabs.co does not use cookies or set any tracking. All fonts and assets are self-hosted — no third-party requests are made when you visit this website

4. How We Use Your Data

4.1 We use your personal data to:

  • Process and manage your booking
  • Dispatch your driver and provide journey updates
  • Monitor and adjust your pickup for flight delays (airport transfers)
  • Send booking confirmations and status notifications via WhatsApp
  • Handle complaints, queries, and legal obligations
  • Generate invoices for corporate account holders
  • Improve our service

4.2 Our lawful basis for processing is the performance of a contract (your booking) and, where applicable, our legitimate interests in operating a safe and reliable transport service.

5. Payment Data

5.1 We do not store any payment card or bank account information. All card transactions are processed by our third-party payment provider under their own data protection terms.

5.2 Corporate account invoicing is handled by Classic Cabs directly via BACS or card — no card details are retained after payment.

6. WhatsApp & AI Booking System

6.1 Classic Cabs operates a WhatsApp-based booking system powered by an AI assistant. When you message us via WhatsApp:

  • Your messages are processed by our AI booking system to handle your enquiry or booking
  • A member of our team monitors conversations in real time and may step in at any point
  • WhatsApp and Meta collect their own data in accordance with their privacy policy at whatsapp.com/legal/privacy-policy
  • We do not control Meta's data practices and encourage you to review their policy

7. TaxiCaller Dispatch System

7.1 Booking and journey data is stored within TaxiCaller, our third-party dispatch platform. TaxiCaller processes data on our behalf as a data processor. Their privacy policy is available at taxicaller.com.

7.2 Data is retained for as long as necessary to fulfil legal and operational obligations.

8. Google Reviews

8.1 Our website displays reviews sourced from Google via the Google Places API. These reviews are publicly available and are displayed with shortened reviewer names (first name and last initial only) in accordance with our commitment to minimising personal data exposure.

8.2 The Google Privacy Policy applies to data held by Google and is available at policies.google.com/privacy.

9. Sharing Your Data

9.1 We do not sell or lease your personal data to third parties. We may share data with:

  • TaxiCaller (dispatch and booking management)
  • Our payment processor (transaction processing only)
  • WhatsApp/Meta (messaging platform)
  • Legal authorities if required by law

10. Data Retention

10.1 We retain personal data for as long as necessary to provide our service and meet legal obligations.

10.2 Booking records are typically retained for 3 years. You may request deletion of your data at any time (see Section 12).

11. Data Security

11.1 We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorised access, loss, or disclosure.

11.2 Our website uses HTTPS encryption. Access to booking data is restricted to authorised staff only.

12. Your Rights

12.1 Under the Data Protection (Jersey) Law 2018, you have the right to:

  • Access a copy of your personal data
  • Correct inaccurate or incomplete data
  • Request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten")
  • Restrict or object to processing of your data
  • Data portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format
  • Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent
